The premise of our class is to keep the learning process simple and fun. However, simple and fun doesn't mean incomplete  or lacking in substance. To demonstrate the degree to which even a student will be able to read a horoscope, I offer the chart of President Barack Obama. It is copied from one of our lesson plans. By enrolling in our class you will be more than able to read his or any other horoscope you want in a similar manner and then, if you choose, can easily make the kinds of profoundly precise predictions that astrologers do on a daily basis.

The Moon
The position of the Moon in a horoscope tells the astrologer about your emotional nature, your needs and where you experience change. She is concerned with your feminine side, women in general and your family. With the Moon in Gemini and the fourth house you express your emotions in a restless and curious manner indicating an inner need to gather information and communicate. You are emotionally clever and quick-witted and probably spend a lot of time on the phone. In fact, the latest phone with all the coolest new features would be a great gift for you. Your emotions can change frequently, so frequently in fact that you often don't know how you really feel about anything. Your feelings are strong, even powerful, but they change rapidly. (Moon in Gemini square Uranus and Pluto) The Moon in the fourth house indicates that you were born with an emotional need for a home and family. You probably possess strong domestic abilities and may have an aptitude for dealing with real estate, ecology or genealogy. With your Moon in a mutable sign you will have moved often in your youth and won't establish more permanent roots until the second half of life. With numerous lunar aspects, you attack life with an instinct for what to do and how to get it done. In fact, with so many lunar aspects and few solar aspects, you learned the important lessons of life; that is who you are and how you fit into society, your values and manner of living your life, from your mother and her side of the family. Your wife will continue this educative process. With the Moon sextile Mercury and trine Jupiter and Saturn, you communicate often and well. You also have numerous family and domestic interests that benefit your life. Short distance travels are probably numerous, enjoyable and beneficial. You have an excellent memory and tend to communicate especially well with women. Your emotional nature is essentially optimistic, generous and outgoing with a healthy dose of reality and pragmatism thrown in for good measure due to the trine to both Jupiter and Saturn. You are learned a lot from your dealings with family. They probably instilled good morals and a sense of religion in you at an early age. You should benefit greatly from dealings with the public and women in general and should consider real estate as an additional financial opportunity. It is easy for you to express your emotions in a responsible and steady manner designed to bring you some form of domestic security. However, with the Moon square both Uranus and Pluto, inner tensions could easily cause you to emotionally react in sudden and unexpected ways. You can, at times, be far too independent and refuse be tied down or held back for very long. Unique, overly independent and a bit controlling also describes the women in your life who will probably come and go in your life suddenly and unexpectedly. Your intensely passionate and secretly held emotions can easily get away from you in youth. Overly intense and a bit secretive, you need to learn as early as possible to balance those all or nothing feelings. You must also guard against becoming too manipulative or controlling as this will cause serious problems in your home and family life. You can be the boss of everything except your home. That is your wifes realm. 

The Sun
The Sun represents your ego, will and vitality. It tells the astrologer about your most basic self and how you present yourself to the world. Aspects to the Sun will modify its expression but nothing will cause you to stray too very far away from the essential nature of the sign where the Sun was at your birth. In a sense it represents the clothing we all wear and the face we present to the world. With the Sun in Leo you express your ego and will in a manner that is proud, fun loving and dramatic. With strong creative abilities, a generous nature and a desire and ability to become the center of attention, your most basic self is that of a leader and organizer. Affectionate, romantic, noble, vain and more than just determined, you are susceptible to flattery and crave respect. You think you are important, were born to lead, and therefore have little interest in compromising your values. As a result you won’t tolerate any form of chicanery or want to involve yourself with lies or liars. However, you may step over your own line to achieve a measure of importance and will be devastated if the truth comes out and you are no longer seen as someone who really matters. (With Mercury square Jupiter you must be very careful with this tendency) You want others to see you as you see yourself, which is as a trusted leader born with the ability to present himself with flair and style. You are also not a quitter. In fact, you will march on to the ends of the earth if you believe it is the correct way for you to become the center of attention. With the sun in the sixth house your most basic self easily applies its ego and will to the job. You are in fact probably very good at what you do. You have pride in your work and expect recognition for your well-developed, craftsman like skills. You are good with the tools of your trade, are very precise and very careful to dot all your I’s and cross all your T’s. Naturally critical, you have high standards and want everything you do to be perfect. Health is often an important concern and nutrition should be studied. You may be quite proud of both your wardrobe and your pets. You were born with a natural understanding of being of service to others. You will apply yourself to learn all there is to know about your job and are the type to take additional classes and put in the extra time to learn how to do your job better. You are good with details but need to be sure to balance work with play as you could have a tendency to work too much. However, inner tensions sometimes cause your most basic nature to confuse fact with fiction. In fact, you have a powerful imagination, love to day dream and wonder "what if...?" You can easily suffer from some form of self-deception as your ego and will are prone to illusion. You probably have an addictive personality and must absolutely avoid alcohol and drugs as they could eventually lead to very serious problems. Your father or a father figure to you, could be surrounded with mystery and/or be associated with another culture. (Neptune square the Sun from the ninth)

At Your Core
At your innermost core you are inquisitive, restless and a natural communicator born with the ability to present yourself to the world with a dramatic flair designed to make you the center of attention. (Sun in Leo & Moon in Gemini) A compassionate, idealistic and service oriented individual, (Sun square Neptune and in the sixth house) you possess charisma, (Venus trine Neptune and sextile Pluto) along with strength, stamina timing and patience. (Mars trine Saturn) You have a natural curiosity about your heritage and an almost instinctual need for a home and family. (Moon in Gemini and the fourth house) You also possess the ability to communicate with style, (Gemini Moon along with Mercury and Sun in Leo) exceptional organizational ability, (Sun & Mercury in Leo and the sixth house) and a work ethic that borders on becoming a workaholic. (Sun in the sixth house along with Mars trine Saturn) On the other hand you can also be rather naïve & impressionable with unrealistic, utopian ideals, (Sun & Mercury square Neptune) a tendency to promise more than you can deliver, (Mercury opposite Jupiter) and can, at times, appear to be bossy and egocentric. How you appear to others
With Aquarius rising you appear to others as an original, independent and unique individualist. You seem to march to your own beat and can easily lean toward the arts, sciences, literature and distinctly humanitarian causes. Surprisingly determined, you resist censorship, are probably perceived as being intelligent and in many ways can seem to be ahead of your contemporaries. To be your best, you need to avoid the appearance of being too radical, eccentric or far out. With the ruler of the first in the seventh and square the MC, you are essentially a social, people oriented person.  Forming relationships and partnerships is a primary concern. Compromise and cooperation are your forte and you have the desire and ability to bring people together. One persistent problem (the squre aspect) is that you will have a tendency to cause, and/or experience, sudden and unexpected changes (Uranus) in your career path, status and reputation. (the midheaven)  In addition, your enemy’s (seventh house) will want to bring up your association with eccentric or radical (Uranus) people or ideas to question your status and reputation. (MC) It is best therefore to learn as early as possible to conform just a bit more than you would like to avoid being seen as a rebel without a cause or as just another radical. In addition, you are probably the kind of person who doesn’t like being alone for very long. With the Sun opposite the ascendant, inner tensions make it difficult for you to always express your ego and will in a harmonious fashion. At times you can even come across as being a bit overbearing and bossy. This will probably create problems with relationships. You could also appear to be egotistical and a bit vain. Another negative characteristic that you can actually use to your advantage is that you have a deceptive first appearance. This is because with the Sun (who you really are) opposite the ascendant (how you appear to others), you are, in reality, the opposite of how you first appear.
