Dr. Carl Jung, one of the founding fathers of modern psychology, was also an astrologer. A pioneering genius who illuminated the darkest recesses of our minds, Dr. Jung sent shock waves through out the scientific community when he said, "Astrology is assured recognition from psychology, without further restrictions, because astrology represents the summation of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity. The fact that it is possible to construct, in adequate fashion, a persons character from the data of his nativity, shows the relative validity of astrology". Seventeen years later he wrote a letter to B. V. Raman the editor of The Astrological Magazine in which he stated, "Since you want to know my opinion of astrology I can tell you that I have been interested in this particular activity of the humane mind since more than thirty years. As a psychologist I am chiefly interested in the particular light the horoscope sheds on certain complications in the character. In cases of difficult psychological diagnosis I usually get a horoscope in order to have a further point of view from an entirely different angle. I must say that I very often found that the astrological data elucidated certain points which I This section and its five links will teach you everything you need to get started learning astrology. And you should learn about astrology because it is mankind's oldest science and has been embraced by many of the world’s greatest minds. Early astrologers of note included towering intellects like Hippocrates, the learned father of medicine, and Pythagoras, the absolutely brilliant father of mathematics who once said, "The wise individual should strive for perfection by attuning himself with the music of the spheres". Aristotle, Plato, Ptolemy, Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo and even the eminent Sir Roger Bacon, the father of modern science himself, were all astrologers. So was Benjamin Franklin. One of our most prominent founding fathers. Old Ben spoke often of astrology. In Poor Richard's Almanac he wrote, "Oh the wonderful knowledge to be found in the stars. Even the smallest things are written there - if you had but skill to read." Eighteen years later he lamented, "The first astrologers I think were honest husbandmen; and so it seems are the last: for my brethren Jerman and Moore and myself, the only remaining almanac makers in this country, are all of that class though in the intermediate times our art has been cultivated in the great cities and even in the court of princes". This amazing man often shared his astrological expertise with the world. Just prior to the American Revolution he penned these prophetic words: "Suffer me to observe that whoever studies the eclipses of former ages and compares them to the great events in the history of the times and years in which they happened, shall find that the fall of the Assyrian, Persian, Grecian and Roman monarchies, each of them was remarkably proceeded by great and total eclipses of the heavenly bodies. Observations of this kind, joined with the ancient and long tried rules of our art make me tremble for the empire now in being." I would submit for your consideration that the testimony of individuals as accomplished and astute as the founding fathers of astronomy, science, mathematics and medicine, along with such notables as Confucius, Benjamin Franklin, J. P. Morgan, and Dr. Carl Jung, certainly implies that astrology is an ancient field of knowledge with enormous potential value to humanity. Those who would take issue with the subject would have to dismiss the talents, motivations and insights of some of the brightest minds to ever walk the Earth. In fact, it is my personal belief that the talents, insights, and motivations of those who would dismiss astrology with a simple wave of their hand more closly resemble the antics of Larry, Moe and Curley. They should be considerd profoundly irrational, patently irresponsible and utterly absurd. At Kissing Astrology we have a "keep it simple student" approch to learning that is based on four decades of training new students. Other famous astrological quotes include "The celestial bodies are the cause of all that takes place in the sublunar world" by St. Thomas Aquinas while Dante called astrology, "The noblest of sciences." Confucius taught his followers that "Heaven sends down its good and evil symbols and wise men act accordingly" while Sir Francis Bacon, the father of modern science told us, "The natures and dispositions of men are, not without truth, distinguished from the predominance of the planets." Great writers like Sir William Shakespeare wrote about astrology. In the person of King Lear the bard writes, "The stars above govern our condition." and, "I was born sir, when the Crab was ascending: all my affairs go backwards." My favorite auther, Mark Twain wrote “I was born with Halley’s Comet and I expect to die upon its return,” and he did. D H Lawrence wrote “Who knows the power that Saturn has over us, or Venus? But it is a vital power, rippling exquisitely through us all the time” while Goethe actually wrote an astrological description of his birth in which he said, "These auspicious aspects, which the astrologers subsequently interpreted for me, may have been the causes of my preservation." The great Louis Pasteur said, “The controls of life are structured as forms and nuclear arrangements, in relation with the motions of the universe.” Johannes Kepler, the author of Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion, and one of the greatest astronomers who ever lived wrote, "An unfailing experience of mundane events in harmony with the changes occurring in the heavens, has instructed and compelled my unwilling belief." It is well known that President Ronald Reagan used astrology to time his actions. But few know that his chief of staff once said, "It's common knowledge that a large percentage of Wall Street Brokers use astrology." President Theodore Roosevelt went a step further and kept his horoscope mounted on a chess board in the oval office. When asked about it he would reply, "I always keep my weather eye on the opposition of my seventh house Moon to my first house Mars." And finally we have the testimony of J. P. Morgan, one of the richest men who ever lived. He is often quoted as having said "Millionaires don't believe in astrology, but billionaires do". But billionairs aren't astrology's only champions. In addition to the intellectually, financially, and spiritually gifted, many of the most powerful leaders in history used astrology to accomplish their lofty ideals including Alexander the Great, William the Conqueror and Napoleon Bonaparte. From Africa to the Middle East, on through Europe and Asia, and then finally here in the Americas both North and South, the evidence is clear that astrology was practiced extensively by many of the brightest minds on the planet since the dawn of time. otherwise would have been unable to understand". In one well-documented experiment to determine the accuracy of the traditional astrological rules concerning marriage Dr. Jung analyzed the horoscopes of 488 married couples and then successfully matched each person with the correct horoscope of their partner! If those numbers don't tell you something about the truth and accuracy of astrology then trust me when I tell you it is in your very best interest to brush the cobwebs off a dangerously closed mind. |
