After graduating from Yale in 1973, she began a career in the law. Following a short stint as a congressional legal council, she moved to Arkansas in 1974 and married Bill Clinton. In 1979 she was listed as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America. She was the first lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1992. On January 20, 1993 she became the first lady of The United States. In 2001 she ran for and won the vacant senate seat from New York and took office 17 days before her husband left office. She was easily re-elected on Nov 7, 2006 with just over 67% of the vote. Unless you live in a vacuum, you know that most recently she ran for president, got 18,000,000 votes, and came within 1/2 of one percent of becoming the first woman in history to win the nomination of her party for president of the United States. This is a smart and powerful woman with a deserved reputation as one very tough cookie. A hero to millions, she has become a symbol of achievement for many women. Her critics call her cold, calculating and hungry for power. Others say she is charming, compassionate and endowed with a great sense of humor. All say she is intelligent. So, who is the real Hillary Clinton? Let's examine her horoscope in our Keep It Simple Student manner and find out.
Using the simple Kiss system of working with the Sun, Moon, Rising Sign and Ruling planets Nothing too dramatic. Just simple, basic astrology. We begin with the rising sign. At the moment of her birth in Chicago, Scorpio was on the horizon. This is the sign of power and control. That is why she can so easily send the message that power and control is what she is really all about. With her ruling planets of Mars and Pluto (the two rulers of Scorpio) conjunct up in the ninth house of higher education, foreign affairs and the law, Hillary Clinton is nobody's fool. Like most texts, Kissing Astrology defines a Mars Pluto conjunction as:
"You were born with the ability to apply an almost super human force if necessary to accomplish your aims. An uncompromising extremist, you are more than resourceful and will let nothing stand in your way. A tireless worker, you will apply whatever force is necessary, rules be damned, to get what you want. You were probably also born with a powerful and intense sexual drive."
But that is not all. Now let's add Saturn to the mix. Mars and Pluto are also conjunct Saturn increasing her ambition and adding stamina and follow through to an already overly intense application of energy. In fact, Saturn will enhance the efficient use of energy when positively configured with Mars. And, to top it all off, her Saturn is square the ascendant!
Those who claim she is cold and calculating clearly see the triple threat imposed by a Mars, Saturn, Pluto conjunction with Saturn square a Scorpio ascendant and go no further. Probably out of fear. And, for good reason. But, there is another side to Hillary Clinton. Those who get to know her soon get past the Saturn square to her ascendant and begin to see the trine that is coming from her Moon in Pisces and the fourth house. They are pleasantly surprised to discover a compassionate women with a sensitive side (Pisces) who has the ability to make people feel like they are a part of her family. (Moon in the fourth) The trine from her Moon, along with the square from Saturn, is exactly why she is so polarizing. You either love her (Moon in Pisces trine the ascendant) or you hate and/or fear her. (Saturn conjunct Mars and Pluto square the ascendant)
Irrespective of which camp you are in, everybody can see Mercury conjunct her ascendant and therefore everyone sees her as intelligent.
Now let's spend a moment looking at that stellium of Mars, Saturn and Pluto up in her ninth house of the law, higher education and foreign affairs. With all that power in her ruling planets, is it any wonder that she was attracted to the law at an early age? And further, with all that education and the efficient use of energy, can we now see why she was named one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America less than five years after she graduated from college? In addition, I distinctly remember that one of her strongest arguments during the primary's was her extensive experience with foreign leaders. And now? She is about to be nominated for Secretary of State. The most powerful position in the cabinet of the president and one that assumes the responsibility (Saturn) for and control (Pluto) of our foreign policy (the ninth house) as Americas top diplomat. The lesson for students here is to never underestimate the power of the house position of the planet or planets that rule the rising sign. The location of the planet that rules the rising sign is a powerful indicator of the natives basic desires. It looks to me like Hillary Clinton is the living embodiment of her horoscope. This is especially true when you realize that the ruler of ones aim in life, the tenth house, is so easily seen in her due to the arresting fact that it (Mercury) is conjunct the ascendant. Kissing Astrology defines the ruler of the midheaven conjunct the ascendant as,
"
It appears to others that you are very concerned with status, honor and your reputation. You epitomize your career aspirations and are identified with your profession. You can easily present yourself as an authority figure or executive type."
We have taken a Keep It Simple Student look at Hillary Clinton's rising sign, ruling planets, Moon and the ruler of her midheaven. We have yet to check out the Sun in her horoscope. Let's do that now. With the Sun in Scorpio and the twelfth house, Hillary Clinton
can express her ego and will in a resourceful, controlled manner that has the ability to dig and probe to get to the bottom of a mystery. Her most basic self is determined and a touch suspicious. Secretive and passionate, she needs to learn to overcome jealousy and suspicion. This is especially true in her case because her Pisces Moon has been hurt in the past. This is a person who wants the facts, in black and white, because in her life there are now few if any gray areas. As a result, it is very difficult to mislead the most powerful and resourceful sign in the zodiac. (Scorpio) In addition, her
most basic nature, The Sun, is to be a naturally secretive (Scorpio) and sensitive (twelfth house Sun along with the Moon in Pisces) individual with an aptitude for self-sacrifice that could require periods of rest and seclusion to recharge her batteries. She also has Venus in the twelfth house of sorrow and loss, square Saturn, Pluto and Mars but I see no reason to bring up her husbands past infidelities.
With a career that includes being one of the 100 most influential attorneys in America, the first lady of Arkansas and The United States of America, a two term Senator from New York and a nominee for the position of Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has lived her horoscope to the fullest. Has she done all that she can do and become all that she can be? I don't think so. In that we are all astrologers here, let's talk a little prediction. To make my point, I am going to apply the simplest and most accurate predictive tool available to any astrologer, The Saturn Cycle. I'm going old school on you here as this system was introduced to the world of astrology back in the early 1940's by one of the greats, Grant Lewi, in his classic work, Astrology For The Millions. The premise of the Saturn Cycle is that as Saturn rises in a horoscope one becomes, ever so slightly, more ambitious, responsible and status seeking than usual. In other words, they become more like Saturn. As the planet of responsibility sets in the chart they become slightly less responsible, ambitious and status seeking with the appropriate outcome. This slight shift, carried on for many years, will coincide with ones material rise and fall in life. It takes Saturn about 28 1/2 years to circle the horoscope. In this journey Saturn will spend approximately seven years in each of the four sections of the chart which are labeled A, B, C, and D. Saturn will set through the chart in Sector A, bottom out and become involved in new beginnings in sector B, and rise dramatically in sector C advancing one in their pursuit of accomplishment. This accomplishment will peak as it crosses the midheaven. Depending on their age, this will bring the native to the top of their professional life. They will then reap the rewards they have earned and maintain what was achieved as Saturn transits sector D. When it reaches the ascendant the native will often experience a second peak of power as they strongly feel more ambitious but it will be short lived as Saturn progresses down in the chart deep into sector A. Grant Lewi called the transit of sector A "The Obscure Phase," B is "First Rise Phase," C is "Public Rise Phase" while we can refer to D as "The Reward Phase." In Hillary's chart Saturn is now on her "Reward Phase." Saturn will spend about seven years in each of these sections. Some say that this cycle corresponds to the old wives tale of seven years of good luck followed by seven years of bad luck. Be that as it may, the natural cycle of Saturn causes it to be the ideal place to begin a simple long term examination of the professional cycle of ones life.
Hillary was born with Saturn high in the ninth bringing her to a peak of power at the ripe old age of 1. It then continued its transit of her chart and by 1969, when she was delivering her historic speech at Wellesley, it was deep in her First Rise Phase. In 1979 Saturn entered her tenth house as she assumed her first real peak of power. This is when she was named to the list of the 100 most influential lawyers in America and followed that up by helping her husband win his race for governor and becoming the First Lady of Arkansas. Still a practicing attorney, she put her legal career aside as Saturn entered her Obscure Phase. She held the position of first Lady of Arkansas until 1993 when Saturn entered her fourth house of new beginnings which coincidentally (?) coincided with her becoming the real First Lady as Bill Clinton became the 42 President of The United States. In 2001 Saturn crossed her descendant and entered sector C of Public Rise. What did she do? Feeling her Saturn, she ran for and won the senate seat from New York. In 2007, as Saturn continued to rise in her chart, she was reelected in a landslide. But Saturn was inching ever closer to the cusp of her tenth house and she was still feeling it. So, what did she do? Not much. She just ran for president. In my humble opinion, she would have won easily if she weren't up against a political phenomenon blessed with an incredible grouping of progressed aspects which we discussed in this column a couple of months ago. Still, she received 18,000,000 votes which by itself was a record. Had she run against anyone other than Barack Obama, she would have cleaned their clock and then would have gone on to wipe John McCain and Sarah Palin off the map. Now, with Saturn up in the Reward Phase of sector D, she has been offered the position of Secretary of State. She will take it and do a good job as she is more than qualified. This is a perfect position for her horoscope although it also indicates that she would make a fabulous Attorney General or Supreme Court judge. In any event early in the spring of 2011 and continuing for the better part of a year Progressed Jupiter will trine her natal Mars Pluto conjunction up in the ninth house. I would expect that 2011 should be a particularly fortunate time for Hillary Clinton irrespective of what she is doing at that time.
