Back in the late 1960's it was my very good fortune to discover the sweet science of the stars. Now, in my 60's, and retired from the work a day world, I am again fortunate to discover that I now have both the time and technology to share my passion for astrology with you. Life is good. But with a kittle astrology, it can be even better. To help you understand why that is, this section offers free lessons in astrologys basic premises. It will define our art and discuss the process astrologers use to analyze horoscopes. Here you will also learn the symbols astrologers use to represent the sun, moon and planets, the signs of the zodiac and the aspects between
I would submit for your consideration that the testimony of individuals as accomplished and astute as the founding fathers of astronomy, science, mathematics and medicine, along with such notables as Confucius, Benjamin Franklin, J. P. Morgan, Carl Jung, and the other highly esteemed and respected individuals we have just discussed, certainly implies that astrology is an ancient field of knowledge with enormous potential value to humanity. It is the honor and esteem of these towering historical figures that is, in itself, overwhelming evidence of both the wisdom and integrity of our timeless art. Those who would take issue with astrology would have to dismiss the talents, motivations and insights of these gifted individuals and that, I believe, would be a rather formidable task. In light of all you have just read, the motivations and insights of those who would dismiss astrology with a simple wave of their hand would more closly resemble the antics of Larry, Moe and Curley. They are profoundly irrational, patently irresponsible and utterly absurd.
A Case For Astrology
and circumstances of their lives, with a purity of purpose that is simply not available by any other means. Astrology is mankind's oldest science and, as such, it has been embraced by many of the world’s greatest minds. Early astrologers of note included both Hippocrates, the learned father of medicine and Pythagoras, the absolutely brilliant father of mathematics. It was Pythagoras who told us, "The wise individual should strive for perfection by attuning himself with the music of the spheres" while Hippocrates said, "The doctor without a working knowledge of astrology has no right to call himself a physician." Aristotle, Plato, Ptolemy, Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo and even the eminent Sir Roger Bacon, the father of modern science himself, were all astrologers. So was Benjamin Franklin who wrote in Poor Richard's Almanac, "Oh the wonderful knowledge to be found in the stars. Even the smallest things are written there - if you had but skill to read." I love that quote so much I placed it on my home page. Old Ben often shared his astrological expertise with the world. Just prior to the American Revolution he penned these prophetic words: "Suffer me to observe that whoever studies the eclipses of former ages and compares them to the great events in the history of the times and years in which they happened, shall find that the fall of the Assyrian, Persian, Grecian and Roman monarchies, each of them was remarkably proceeded by great and total eclipses of the heavenly bodies. Observations of this kind, joined with the ancient and long tried rules of our art make me tremble for the empire now in being." Yes, Benjamin Franklin, one of our founding fathers, was an astrologer. So was Carl Jung, one of the founding fathers of modern psychology. A pioneering genius who illuminated the darkest recesses of our minds, Dr. Jung sent shock waves through the scientific community when he said, "Astrology is assured recognition from psychology, without further restrictions, because astrology represents the summation of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity. The fact that it is possible to construct, in adequate fashion, a persons character from the data of his nativity, shows the relative validity of astrology." Seventeen years later he wrote a letter to B. V. Raman the editor of The Astrological Magazine in which he stated, "Since you want to know my opinion of astrology I can tell you that I have been interested in this particular activity of the humane mind since more than thirty years. As a psychologist I am chiefly interested in the particular light the horoscope sheds on certain complications in the character. In cases of difficult psychological diagnosis I usually get a horoscope in order to have a further point of view from an entirely different angle. I must say that I very often found that the astrological data elucidated certain points which I otherwise would have been unable to understand". People from all walks of life have been enamored with astrology. Confucius taught his followers that, "Heaven sends down its good and evil symbols and wise men act accordingly" while J P Morgan, one of the richest men who ever lived, is often quoted as having said, "Millionaires don't believe in astrology, but billionaires do". In addition to the financially, spiritually, and intellectually gifted, many of the most powerful leaders in history used astrology to accomplish their lofty ideals including Alexander the Great, William the Conqueror and Napoleon Bonaparte. So did King Charles the I, Queen Elizabeth the I and most of the rest of the royal courts of Europe. From Africa to the Middle East, on through Europe and Asia, and then finally here in the Americas both North and South, the evidence is clear that astrology has been practiced extensively by many of the brightest minds on the planet since the dawn of time. the planets.
